Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist for the Blood Bank on the Night Shift. The role involves routine and advanced Blood Bank testing, quality control, and report generation under supervision.

Candidates should hold NYS licensure or eligibility, with MT (ASCP) certification preferred. Experience with automated Blood Bank systems (WellSky preferred) and the ability to teach students are advantages.

Qualifications

• Required: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with demonstrated relevant experience.
• Preferred: MT (ASCP) Certification or equivalent; Blood Bank experience.
• Working knowledge of WellSky Transfusion and/or WellSky Blood Center; experience in automated Blood Bank testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine test analysis in Blood Bank and adhere to departmental policies.
• Apply specialized knowledge for advanced level testing in Blood Bank; generate reports for testing.
• Maintain quality control procedures and verify final test reports.
• Identify routine lab problems and take corrective action under supervision.
• Assist in teaching medical technology students and others.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of standards and regulatory requirements.
• Follow safety practices per NYS DOH and OSHA.
