Job summary

Henry Ford Health's Jackson hospital campus is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to support patients with addiction, behavioral health, or mental health needs. You will work under RNs to provide direct care, create a safe environment, and contribute to individualized care plans in an inpatient psychiatric or addiction medicine setting.

You will monitor patient progress, document behavior, and collaborate with providers to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care during night shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Minimum of one-year college experience in Behavioral Health, Allied Health, Psychology, or related field, OR at least one year of Behavioral Health Technician experience or applicable experience such as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
• Ability to physically manage patients in a safe and therapeutic manner.
• Complete BLS Heartsaver Certification during orientation and maintain active certification.
• Complete WELLE training within the first three months and maintain active certification (location specific).
• Two or more years of experience as a Behavioral Health Technician in an inpatient psychiatric or addiction medicine setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for individuals with behavioral health needs.
• Assist in implementing patient care plans under the direction of Registered Nurses.
• Offer positive interactions, comfort, and encouragement to support patient wellbeing and recovery.
• Monitor and document patient behavior, progress, and concerns, reporting significant issues to the manager.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to deliver quality, compassionate care.
