Job summary

Hexcel Corporation seeks an Automation Controls Technician for the Night Shift at Salt Lake City, UT. You will troubleshoot and program PLC-based control systems, work with HMI/MMI, and support VFDs and instrumentation in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

The role requires 1+ years of automation experience, a high school diploma or GED (associate degree preferred), and the ability to rotate three 12-hour nights/rolls with weekends off parity. AutoCAD experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Automation, Instrumentation, or a related technical field preferred
• 1+ years of experience with automation and process controls
• Ability to work nights on a rotating 3/4 schedule (12-hour shifts)
• Experience creating or modifying electrical and control system drawings using AutoCAD or similar design software is preferred
• Experience with industrial automation and manufacturing equipment in a production environment
• Proficiency in PLC programming, troubleshooting, and system integration
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs and tech documentation
• Working knowledge of Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profinet; familiarity with historians is a plus
• US Persons status is required for the role

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, program, integrate, install, modify, and upgrade PLC-based control systems
• Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot DCS/HMI/MMI programming and configuration
• Configure, commission, modify, upgrade, and troubleshoot VFDs
• Diagnose and support calibration of instrumentation devices; provide training to electricians
• Configure and maintain monitoring/control devices for process automation
• Perform instrumentation and controls troubleshooting and system optimization with engineering teams
• Support reliability and uptime initiatives through rapid troubleshooting and root-cause analysis
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance and engineering to resolve safety, quality and productivity issues
• Maintain documentation of control systems, programming changes, configurations and troubleshooting
