Job summary

Materion Brush is seeking an ARC Melter Operator to produce high-quality tantalum ingots using Electron Beam and Arc furnaces. You will operate vacuum melting furnaces, manage mold cleaning, and maintain 5S safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

You will monitor material movements in SAP, perform QC, and coordinate with welders to ensure process alignment. A minimum of 2 years in manufacturing plus vacuum system experience is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years industrial manufacturing experience; SAP experience preferred.
• Experience with vacuum systems required; vacuum melting experience with EB, Arc, or CMAF preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail.
• Quality inspection experience preferred.
• Troubleshooting experience preferred.
• Forklift experience required or preferred (depending on company standards).
• Ability to follow detailed operating procedures and safety rules.
• Ability to work collaboratively, make sound decisions, identify production issues, and seek assistance when needed.
• Must be safety-conscious and able to understand safety and environmental requirements.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate EB and Arc furnaces following SOPs, OPCs, and routers.
• Operate GCA and AC furnaces, Hydride/Dehydride and Agglomeration furnaces, Eitel Press, 1500T Press, and mold cleaning equipment.
• Operate vacuum furnaces and perform vacuum leak detection.
• Inspect and maintain molds, melt hardware, and all operating supplies.
• Inspect materials to ensure product specs and report defects to supervision.
• Work with welders and downstream operations for process alignment.
• Enter material movements into SAP and complete QC and lot traceability documentation.
• Perform routine troubleshooting, minor repairs, and preventive maintenance on production equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area per 5S and safety standards.
• Follow safety rules and environmental regulations to maintain high product quality.
