Job summary

Materion Corporation is seeking an ARC Melter Operator in Newton, MA to produce high-quality tantalum ingots using EB and Arc furnaces. The role involves operating vacuum melting furnaces, routine maintenance, and documenting materials in SAP, while adhering to safety and quality standards.

You will work on the 3rd shift (Sunday–Friday, 10:30pm–7am), coordinate with welders and downstream operations, and ensure accurate testing records and 5S compliance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years industrial manufacturing experience; SAP experience preferred.
• Experience with vacuum systems; vacuum melting with EB/Arc preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail.
• Quality inspection experience preferred.
• Troubleshooting experience preferred.
• Forklift experience required or preferred depending on standards.
• Ability to follow detailed SOPs and safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate EB and Arc furnaces following SOPs, OPCs, and routers.
• Operate GCA/AC furnaces, Hydride/Dehydride and related equipment; maintain molds and melt hardware.
• Operate vacuum furnaces and perform vacuum leak detection.
• Inspect materials to ensure product specs; report defects.
• Collaborate with welders and downstream ops for process alignment.
• Enter material movements into SAP and complete QA and lot-traceability docs.
• Perform routine troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on production equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area per 5S and safety standards.
