Job summary

Materion is hiring an ARC Melter Operator to produce high‑quality tantalum ingots using Electron Beam and Arc furnaces. The role includes operation of related equipment, routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include setting up furnaces, maintaining molds and melt hardware, and ensuring product specifications. Requires 2+ years in manufacturing, SAP experience, and vacuum system familiarity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years industrial manufacturing experience; SAP experience preferred.
• Experience with vacuum systems required; vacuum melting with EB/Arc/CMAF preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail.
• Quality inspection experience preferred.
• Troubleshooting experience preferred.
• Forklift experience required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate EB and Arc furnaces following SOPs and OPCs.
• Operate GCA/AC furnaces, Hydride/Dehydride and other equipment.
• Operate vacuum furnaces and perform leak detection.
• Inspect and maintain molds and melt hardware.
• Inspect materials to meet specifications and report defects.
• Collaborate with welders and downstream operations for process alignment.
• Enter material movements into SAP and document QC and traceability.
• Perform routine troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe 5S work area and follow safety rules.
