Job summary

St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco is seeking a Temporary Program Aid to assist in the Multi-Service Center and Drop-In Center during the graveyard shift from midnight to 8:30 a.m.

This full-time, non-exempt role supports monitoring residents, providing resources, and ensuring shelter safety in San Francisco. Based on the job description, the position requires a high school diploma, strong English communication, and experience with homeless populations.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent
• Good communication English skills, both verbal and written
• Experience working with homeless, indigent, alcoholic, mentally ill, and/or unemployed
• Ability to maintain accurate records
• Ability to work well under pressure and in crisis situations
• Proficient in data entry, MS Word
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries
• Demonstrated Vincentian values: respect, dignity, integrity, collaboration, justice, stewardship, compassion, client advocacy

Responsibilities

• Provide resource and referral information for clients
• Respectful and courteous treatment of all clients at all times
• Monitor shelter and drop-in center activities to ensure safety
• Carry protective gloves as appropriate
• Follow shelter operations manual rules and regulations
• Adhere to Standards of Care per City/County legislation
• Use CHANGES software to record client data
• Make area checks as assigned
• Distribute and collect blankets and towels
• Monitor meal lines
• Maintain cleanliness of beds and work areas and restrooms
• Attend monthly all-staff meetings
• Perform other duties as assigned
