Job summary

Catholic Charities Worcester County is seeking a part-time Residential Counselor to join our Family Shelter in Worcester, MA. The role supports families with case management and direct services in a compassionate environment that upholds dignity and safety.

Responsibilities include monitoring shelter operations, assisting clients with needs, documenting records, and providing crisis intervention as needed. A commitment to teamwork and community service is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years experience in human services.
• CPR and First Aid Certifications within one year and annually thereafter.
• Reliable mode of transportation.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Monitor shelter and client affairs, assist clients with needs and maintain shelter order in accordance with policies.
• Perform general administrative functions such as noting in communication logs, answering phones, and providing information/referrals professionally.
• Document and maintain necessary records, logs, and reports.
• Monitor activity of clients to ensure safety of clients, volunteers, and staff.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Provide a welcoming environment and teach life skills where possible.
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality of guests' identities.
• Collaborate in implementing programs for guest needs and assist in evaluations.
