Job summary

Carilion Clinic is seeking a Registered Nurse for the ED Observation Unit at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. This full-time, evening/night position provides nursing care to patients admitted from the ED for 48 hours or less, focusing on monitoring, testing, and evaluation prior to discharge.

You will work within a 15-bed unit, delivering compassionate care, coordinating with a multidisciplinary team, and utilizing EPIC for documentation.

Qualifications

• Graduate of school of professional nursing or approved program eligible to sit for VA licensure.
• Current Virginia RN licensure or eligibility to obtain Virginia RN licensure.
• AHA BLS-HCP required; ACLS/PALS/NRP may be required based on unit.
• Computer skills required for electronic medical records (EPIC).

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care for all ages with appropriate care plans.
• Complete age-specific admissions and ongoing assessments; revise plans as status changes.
• Collaborate with care team to develop an age-appropriate interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Administer and document treatments and medications using EMR systems.
• Provide patient and family education and participate in quality improvement activities.
