Job summary

Methodist Richardson Medical Center in Richardson, TX is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a 12x3 night shift role. You will perform ABG, PFTs, ventilator support, oxygen and aerosol therapy, and airway maintenance for adults and neonates under indirect supervision of the medical director.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care Program, Texas license, NBRC registration, and BLS/ACLS; NRP and PALS within 1 year. 6 months of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification is required.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification required.
• NRP and Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience preferred, new graduates encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, incentive spirometry, airway maintenance and chest physiotherapy.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including ABG analysis, pulse oximetry, PFTs and ECGs.
• Prepares treatment evaluations with bedside assessment, patient interview, and chart review.
• Uses critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient data.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas.
• Applies patient scripting to improve satisfaction.
• Performs additional duties as required.
