Job summary

Methodist Richardson Medical Center in Richardson, TX, is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide advanced respiratory care to adults and neonates in a night shift setting. You will perform ABG, PFTs, ventilator support, and oxygen therapy under medical direction, following hospital policies.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care Program, BLS/ACLS, NBRC registration, Texas license, and within 1 year to obtain NRP/PALS; 6 months experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required.
• NRP and Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Currently licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months of respiratory care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures such as arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and electrocardiograms.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation including bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview and review of medical record.
• Interpretation of CXR, ABG, and PFT results when reviewing patient data.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
