Job summary

Methodist Mansfield Medical Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for the 12X3 Night shift (7P–7A) to support adults and neonates with respiratory care, ABG, PFTs, and ventilator management in a full-service acute-care setting.

Required: accredited Respiratory Care program, BLS/ACLS, NBRC registration, and Texas license; obtain NRP/PALS within 1 year. Minimum 6 months’ experience preferred. Family-friendly hospital with modern facilities.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification.
• NRP and Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies and electrocardiograms.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation from bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview and medical record review.
• Uses critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interprets chest X-ray, ABG and PFT data when reviewing patient information.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas.
• Utilizes patient-friendly scripting to improve satisfaction.
• Performs other duties as required.
