Qualifications

• Graduate of an Approved Respiratory Therapy Program with a Diploma or AAS Degree.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist.
• Certified or registry-eligible pulmonary function technologist with a minimum of one year training and experience in cardiopulmonary laboratory is preferred.
• Licensed by the Board of Medicine to practice in the state of South Carolina.
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certification required.
• New grads welcome; one year of experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete all duties in accordance with a medical order and established guidelines, schedule studies considering equipment and staff availability.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures: pulmonary function testing (pediatrics, adolescents, adults) including tidal volume, spirometry, functional residual capacity, diffusion; post-bronchodilator tests; CPET; body plethysmography; pulmonary metabolic testing; arterial blood gas sampling; non-invasive monitoring; medical gas and aerosol therapy; chest physiotherapy; airway management; emergency respiratory care; ECGs.
• Evaluate reliability and reproducibility of test results, patient performance, and clinical implications.
• Perform and document routine quality control procedures related to calibration, controls, problem identification, corrective action, and equipment maintenance in the Pulmonary Function Laboratory.
• Document results of studies and therapy in the medical record; participate in education of patients and families.
