Job summary

UofL Health in Shepherdsville, KY is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (Registered) to join the South Hospital Respiratory Care team on the 6P-6A shift. The role requires RRT certification and Kentucky licensure.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Cardiopulmonary Services or Respiratory Care from an accredited program.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Cardiopulmonary Services or Respiratory Care is preferred.
• Active license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner from the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care (KBRC) is required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by NBRC; new grads have 6 months to obtain.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; ACLS is also required.

Responsibilities

• Plans and administers oxygen therapy and aerosolized medications.
• Operates mechanical ventilators and adjusts settings per protocol.
• Manages airway support and performs chest physiotherapy as indicated.
• Collects arterial blood samples for blood gas analysis.
• Provides patient and family education and supports clinical staff.
• Precepts new hires and serves as charge therapist as needed.
