Job summary

Methodist Southwest Medical Center in Dallas area is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for night shift coverage. You will perform ABG, PFTs, and various ventilator supports, oxygen and aerosol therapies, and airway management.

The role requires BLS, ACLS, and Texas licensure with RRT registration; NRP/PALS must be obtained within 1 year of hire. Experience in respiratory care is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support — must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and electrocardiograms.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation including bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview, and review of medical record.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient information.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment such as artificial airways, ventilators, oxygen analyzers and gas analyzers.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas.
• Uses customer scripting to improve patient satisfaction.
• Performs other job duties as required.
