Job summary

St. Francis Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA, invites experienced Registered Nurses to join the Night shift in the inpatient psychiatric unit.

You will assess patients in the emergency department and hospital, ensure correct placement, and provide crisis intervention as part of a multidisciplinary team. Applicants must hold a valid RN license, BCLS, LPS certification, and have 2–3 years of inpatient psychiatric experience.

Qualifications

• Must hold current valid RN license issued by the State.
• LPS certification preferred or needs to obtain this prior to commencement of employment.
• Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Minimum two to three years experience in an Inpatient Psychiatric unit.
• Assaultive Behavior Management training within 6 months of hire and maintain current annually.
• DMH certification required for 5150 detention.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patients in the emergency room and throughout the house when requested and ensures placement according to their age, identified problems and needs.
• Acts within the guidelines of LPS Statutes and Patients’ Rights.
• Provides crisis intervention and appropriate referrals when needed.
• Works within the multidisciplinary team and communicates effectively with physicians, nurses and staff.
