Job summary

UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician (PRN) to perform routine and advanced venipuncture and specimen collection for infant, pediatric, and adult patients. Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program or 6 months of phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Prefer GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Must have computer operational skills using a PC or hospital information system.
• Demonstrates initiative, ability to multitask, and take on responsibilities.
• Proven problem-solving ability and teamwork essential.
• Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced venipuncture and specimen collection on infant, pediatric, and adult patients.
• Receives specimens and places orders in LIS/HIS; ensures orders are complete for proper billing.
• Prepares samples for testing and handles biological samples for analysis.
• Operates and maintains laboratory equipment.
• Provides lab information and assistance to healthcare providers, patients, and colleagues.
• Supports cost-saving ideas and adapts daily tasks to workflow demands.
