Job summary

UF Health is seeking a Phlebotomist at UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL to perform skin punctures and collect blood specimens for laboratory testing. You will process requisitions and inform staff of urgent results, while maintaining clean collection areas.

The qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalent, basic computer skills, and experience with a lab or hospital information system. Preference for health-related background; National Phlebotomy Certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Preferred health-related or science background with lab experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs skin punctures to obtain blood specimens for laboratory testing.
• Processes test requisitions promptly and accurately.
• Informs techs of stats and other urgent testing.
• Telephone patients, physicians and nursing units when required.
• Maintains neat and organized collection trays, collection areas and work areas.
