Job summary

UF Health Medical Lab in Saint Augustine is seeking a dedicated phlebotomist to join our team. The role conducts venipuncture, specimen handling, labeling, and processing with attention to accuracy and patient comfort.

You will work under the lab Support Supervisor in the phlebotomy section, may float to Pavilion, North Campus, or Emerson, and provide excellent customer service while adhering to safety and PPE standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two years clinical or hospital experience.
• Preferred: medical assistant certification.
• Preferred: phlebotomy experience in a hospital setting.
• Phlebotomy knowledge and prep skills.
• Ability to use a laboratory information system.

Responsibilities

• Blood is drawn according to procedures with minimal patient trauma.
• Verify patient identification using two identifiers.
• Label all specimens in front of patient with required info.
• Obtain samples from all ages including newborns and elderly.
• Provide instruction and training on procedures to staff.
• Comply with safety standards and wear PPE.
• Resolve unusual orders by contacting providers and supervisor.
• Monitor inventory and inform supervisor when ordering is needed.
