Job summary

Advocate Health in Wisconsin seeks a phlebotomist to perform venipuncture, collect specimens, and ensure proper labeling for testing. The role includes assisting with inventory, data entry, and support of billing and other business functions.

Candidates should have a High School diploma and knowledge of phlebotomy, with strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. SHifts include 3rd shift with a rotation and a shift premium.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy or related laboratory function knowledge.
• Basic computer skills including experience using software applications.
• Keyboarding and typing skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good listening skills.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Demonstrated customer service skills interfacing with physicians, patients, visitors and healthcare staff.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient identification and ensure patient safety.
• Perform venipuncture and collect specimens per protocol.
• Label and prepare specimens for testing; resolve identification issues.
• Perform limited CLIA-compliant testing per policies.
• Answer calls and assist with inventory and billing support as needed.
• Process specimens and enter results into the computer system.
• Instruct staff on phlebotomy and data entry tasks.
• All age groups: apply age-appropriate care as outlined in department policies.
