Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician for the 60121 WI ACL Laboratories - AMC Sheboygan County location. This full-time role offers 40 hours weekly with a Sunday night through Friday morning schedule (2200-0630) and holiday rotation.

The position requires a high school diploma, no experience required, and involves venipuncture, specimen processing, basic CLIA testing, and support for billing and inventory. Strong customer service and computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates knowledge and experience in phlebotomy or related laboratory function.
• Basic computer skills including experience using computer software applications.
• Keyboarding and typing skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Demonstrated customer service skills to interface effectively with physicians, patients, visitors, and other healthcare employees.

Responsibilities

• Verifies positive patient identification to ensure patient safety.
• Performs venipuncture and collects specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients according to established protocol.
• Ensures specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing; resolves identification/requisition problems.
• Performs limited testing under CLIA guidelines according to policies and procedures.
• Answers and screens telephone calls; assists with inventory and billing support.
• Receives, sorts, packages, and tracks specimens for transport; processes specimens for testing.
• Orders and verifies test requests; documents quality assurance information; runs quality control checks.
• Performs laboratory result entry in the computer system.
• Performs proficiency testing and generates/distributes reports.
• Instructs employees and students in phlebotomy and specimen processing functions.
• Provides age-appropriate care per department standards.
