Job summary

Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore is seeking a Patient Care Technician for night shifts. Under the supervision of a nurse, you will perform routine patient care and delegated procedures in accordance with competency documentation.

Key duties include assisting with dressing, transporting patients by stretcher or wheelchair, and monitoring vital signs. You will identify abnormal findings, report them promptly, and help orient patients and families to the environment.

Qualifications

• Provides basic clinical skills to safely perform routine delegated patient care activities.
• Records and reports pertinent clinical data and uses specialized patient care equipment.
• CNA certification and BLS certification are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the patient with changing and dressing.
• Transport the patient by stretcher, bed, or wheelchair.
• Identify abnormal findings that could affect surgical and patient outcomes.
• Report all abnormal findings to the appropriate nursing staff.
• Escort patients to holding rooms.
• Assist with patient changing and removal of belongings.
• Verify patient information.
• Orient patients and families to the environment.
• Obtain vital signs.
