Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is looking for a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Medicine unit in Norfolk, VA. This is a full-time night shift (12-hour) position with a 7:00pm–7:00am schedule and rotating weekends.

The role includes patient care, vital signs, phlebotomy, EKG testing, and specimen collection under RN supervision. Experience preferred; multiple certifications accepted to meet education requirements.

Qualifications

• Education prerequisites include CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or Navy Hospital Corps School or EM services certifications.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required and one of the listed programs may apply.
• Current work experience in the last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care and supports daily living activities as directed.
• Monitors vital signs, mobility, ambulation, phlebotomy, and specimen collection.
• Performs EKG testing and IV removal; collects specimens as needed.
• Ensures patient safety and reports changes to RN/medical staff.

Sentara Care Partner Certification Program

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)

Emergency Services to include EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic

Current clinical program student (RN/LPN/RT/PT)

Experience as PCT or Nursing Assistant (last 3 years)
