Job summary

Albany Med Health System is seeking a Patient Care Assistant for the Coronary Care Unit - D2E. The role involves night shift work under RN supervision, collecting patient data, assisting with personal care, and supporting discharge progress. Attention to infection control and safety is essential.

The PCA will document care, communicate findings to the care team, and may provide 1:1 activity companionship as needed, promoting a compassionate, high-quality standard of care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required or preferred
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology is beneficial
• Ability to communicate cooperatively with patients, families, and staff
• Commitment to ethical conduct and patient confidentiality
• Strong attention to detail and reliability

Responsibilities

• Collect pertinent patient data including vital signs, height/weight, and intake/output.
• Provide personal care such as bathing, grooming, and feeding assistance.
• Assist with mobility, turning, and safe patient handling.
• Document all care activities in the patient record and report abnormalities to the RN.
• Support care planning and participate in nursing handoffs and discharge planning.
