Job summary

Albany Med is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) for the night shift in the Medical/Surgical Hospitalist unit. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will collect patient data, perform personal care, handle essential tasks (e.g., glucose testing), assist with mobilization, and support transitions toward discharge to ensure continuity of care.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, with preference for those with CNA training or related healthcare exposure.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. is required.
• Less than 1 year of health-care experience or completion of a CNA course is preferred.
• Experience as a paramedic or emergency technician is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Honesty, punctuality and adherence to Albany Medical Center's standards.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient data and vital signs; report abnormal findings to RN.
• Provide personal care, feeding, hydration, grooming and toileting.
• Assist with ambulation, range of motion and safe patient handling.
• Document care in the patient record.
• Maintain a clean, safe care environment.
