Job summary

Albany Medical Center seeks a Patient Care Assistant for the Night shift in the Medical/Surgical Hospitalist unit. You will collect patient data, assist with activities of daily living, and support the nursing team to facilitate timely patient progress toward discharge.

Responsibilities include basic procedures, vital signs, and documentation in the patient record, with emphasis on compassionate, competent care and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Less than 1 year healthcare experience or CNA training preferred.
• Experience as paramedic or emergency technician preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Able to communicate effectively with patients, families and staff.

Responsibilities

• Collects pertinent data and vital signs and reports abnormal findings to the RN.
• Provide personal care, assist with eating, hygiene, and mobility.
• Document all care in the patient record and participate in care planning.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control procedures.
