Albany Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Assistant for the Medical/Surgical Hospitalist unit on the night shift. Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the PCA collects patient data, provides personal care, performs glucose checks, and assists with mobility, discharge planning, and transitions in acute care.

The role includes documenting care, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and collaborating with staff to ensure compassionate, competent care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. or equivalent.
• Less than 1 year in healthcare or CNA course preferred.
• Experience as paramedic/emergency technician preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Honest, punctual, and ethical conduct per Albany Medical Center standards.
• Ability to communicate cooperatively with patients, families, and staff.

Responsabilités

• Collects data: vital signs, height/weight, intake/output.
• Reports abnormal findings to the RN and care team.
• Participates in care planning and nursing report process.
• Involves patients/families in care decisions and keeps them informed.
• Provides personal care: bathing, oral care, skin care.
• Assists with eating, hydration, grooming, dressing, toileting.
• Supports safe patient handling and mobility.
• Maintains a clean, safe environment; follows infection control.
• Documents all care in the patient record.
