Job summary

Biospringer in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Packaging Operator to ensure dried product meets specifications and to uphold safety and food safety procedures. The role manages up to 2 packaging machines and reports to supervision, with a 6 PM - 6 AM rotation.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent experience, be forklift certified, and able to work in a team while also working independently; training across departments is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or 3 years minimum experience in a similar position.
• Ability to follow instructions, learn and ask questions.
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to manage time and plan ahead.
• Forklift certification required.
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
• Regularly stand, walk, use hands, and lift up to 60 pounds; vision requirements.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety, GMP, food safety, and other rules or policies.
• Perform sanitation on equipment, infrastructure, grounds, and other areas.
• Monitor quality assurance controls during production; record information.
• Operate packing line safely and efficiently.
• Inspect dryer infrastructure and notify maintenance when needed.
• Assist in troubleshooting equipment and process problems.
• Notify Lead or Supervisor of equipment failures or process variations.
• Communicate with management about team members' performance.
• Learn all equipment in Packaging and cover shifts when needed.
• Train and work in other departments as needed.
• Drive forklift on a regular basis.
