Job summary

Licking Memorial Health Systems (LMHS) is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for night shifts at our Newark, OH facility. The role involves performing tests across laboratory sections, maintaining equipment, and ensuring accurate results for neonatal through geriatric patients.

The position requires MLS/MLT eligibility, a BS in medical technology or related field, and CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Must possess visual acuity to distinguish fine graduations of color and to closely examine specimens.
• Must have analytical ability to resolve technical problems and interpret quality control data.
• Must be registered or registry eligible as MLS, or a Medical Lab Technologist (MLT).
• Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology (biology, chemistry or biochemistry) with supervised internship or equivalent training.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for analysis and establish testing priorities.
• Perform routine clinical laboratory tests and rotate among sections.
• Record results and report abnormalities to supervisor.
• Maintain and calibrate instruments and run controls to ensure accuracy.
• Assist in training new staff and participate in development of procedures.
• Carry out complex tests for diagnostic purposes and monitor quality control.
