Job summary

Havenwyck Hospital in Auburn Hills, MI, is seeking a Mental Health Technician for full-time night shift (36 hours per week) with every other weekend. The technician will assist with admissions/discharges, monitor patients for safety, and support a therapeutic environment under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, plus college coursework in psychology or related fields; experience with emotionally disturbed patients is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Prefer a minimum of two years of college in areas of psychology, social work, mental health, and other related health fields.
• Experience in dealing with the emotionally disturbed preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follows instructions given by nursing leadership and as outlined in Hospital policies and procedures.
• Reports patient medical problems to the Registered Nurse.
• Reports alterations in sensory perceptual images, recognizing delusions and hallucinations; monitors safety issues and communicates concerns to the RN.
• Provides care to patients with emphasis on safety, rights, comfort and a therapeutic environment.
• Assists with admissions, discharges and transfers and completes the required documentation.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Two years of college in psychology/mental health related fields
