Job summary

Havenwyck Hospital in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking a Mental Health Technician for full-time night shifts (7:00 PM–7:30 AM), 36 hours per week, every other weekend. You will support nursing staff, assist with admissions, discharges and transfers, monitor for potential safety concerns, and help patients with daily living activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Prefer a minimum of two years of college in areas of psychology, social work, mental health, or related fields.
• Experience in dealing with emotionally disturbed patients preferred.
• Employee must be in good standing to be considered for internal transfers.

Responsibilities

• Follows instructions from nursing leadership and hospital policies.
• Reports patient medical problems to the Registered Nurse.
• Monitors sensory perceptual changes and halts potential harm with appropriate intervention; communicates with RN.
• Provides care that respects safety, patient rights and a therapeutic environment.
• Assists with admissions, discharges and transfers and completes documentation in a timely manner.
