Job summary

Havenwyck Hospital in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking a Mental Health Technician for PT night shifts (24 hrs/week, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM, every other weekend). The role involves assisting with admissions, monitoring safety, and supporting the therapeutic environment under RN supervision.

Qualified candidates have a High School Diploma or GED; additional college coursework in psychology or related fields is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Prefer a minimum of two years of college in areas of psychology, social work, mental health, and other related health fields.
• Experience in dealing with the emotionally disturbed preferred.
• Employees must be in good standing (employment/corrective action history, evaluation, etc.) to be considered for internal transfers.

Responsibilities

• Follows instructions given by all nursing leadership and as outlined in Hospital policies and procedures.
• Reports patient medical problems to the Registered Nurse.
• Reports alterations in sensory perceptual images, recognizing the differences between illnesses, delusions and hallucinations. Monitors safety issues regarding these patients and takes action, when indicated, to prevent patient harm. Communicates these issues to the Registered Nurse.
• Provides care to patients in a manner that considers safety, patients’ rights, comfort and a therapeutic environment.
• Assists with admissions, discharges, and transfers of patients in a timely manner and completes the appropriate documentation.
