Job summary

Sonora Quest Laboratories is seeking a Medical/Clinical Lab Scientist for a full-time night position in Fallon, NV. The role requires high-level technical knowledge applied to department testing and regulatory compliance, with responsibilities spanning specimen processing and quality control.

The successful candidate will participate in training, committee work, and preceptor activities, while ensuring accuracy, safety, and adherence to CLIA, CAP, and OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science/medical technology (or related chemical/biological science) with certification.
• Certification (MLS or categorical) or a completion/attestation letter from an accredited MLS program.
• Nevada or California certification must be maintained.
• Foreign-educated candidates must submit credential evaluation from a recognized agency (IERF or equivalent).
• For certain specialties, bachelor’s degree plus 1 year in that discipline may be required.
• Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy.

Responsibilities

• Performs testing accurately and timely per policies and performance standards.
• Recognizes, validates, and monitors abnormal patient or QC results; ensures result accuracy.
• Monitors and controls inventory; contributes to departmental financial data and cost improvements.
• Participates in department/system projects; assists with training and competency; may lead in absence of on-site leadership.
• Provides educational information to internal and external customers; participates in staff meetings and coaching.
• May process and/or prepare patient samples including collection, processing, and specimen integrity.
