Job summary

Day Kimball Health in Putnam, CT is hiring a Unit Receptionist/Patient Care Technician for the Med/Surg Department. The role supports nursing staff with front desk tasks and basic patient care, including vitals and ADLs.

Under the supervision of a registered nurse, you will assist with patient activities, transport, documentation, and ensure clear communication to keep the unit running smoothly. This full-time night shift position offers a team-oriented environment, opportunities to develop

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical terminology and keyboarding skills preferred.
• CNA certification or equivalent clinical experience within 3 months of hire required.
• CPR certification required within 3 months of hire.
• NVCIT certification required within 3 months of hire.
• Experience in clerical or receptionist positions preferred.
• Previous acute care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meets the physical demands of the position.
• Demonstrates ability to cope with and function under stress.
• Meets skill certification requirements for designated units.
• Remain alert and in visual contact with the patient at all times.
• Assist the patient in daily activities as directed by the nurse.
• Assist the nurse in restraining and removing restraints.
• Completes all necessary forms, requisitions, communications and special projects as assigned.
• Accurately transcribes physician’s orders (when applicable).
• Assists patients and nurses as necessary with ADL, Vital Signs, and patient Plan of Care.
