Job summary

The University of Toledo's Psychiatry Float Pool is seeking a Lead Nurse to supervise nursing care for patients across shifts. The role emphasizes professional nursing standards, collaboration with health care teams, and leadership in patient care.

This part-time position requires Ohio RN licensure, BLS/ACLS, trauma certifications as applicable, and willingness to rotate shifts and weekends/holidays. BSN preferred and prior supervisory experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in the State of Ohio required.
• BSN Preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience with documented evidence of expertise in specialty.
• BLS required.
• ACLS required.
• Specialty certification preferred.
• Trauma certification (TCAR and/or TNCC) required for SICU and ER.
• PALS required for ER.
• Supervisory and/or leadership experience desired or demonstrates ability to assume leadership role.
• Excellent communication skills required. Ability to promote a team environment with excellent understanding of customer service.
• May be required to rotate shifts or units, and work weekends and/or holidays.
• Physical requirements: a. 20/20 vision; b. hearing; c. verbal communication; d. dexterity; e. lift 50 pounds occasionally; f. stand/walk; g. bend/reach; h. CPR ability.

Responsibilities

• Maintains standards of professional nursing practice and coordinates total nursing care for patients with consideration of their specific age needs.
• Provides leadership by working cooperatively with other health care professionals.
