Job summary

The University of Toledo seeks a Nursing Assistant to join the Nursing Pool on the Health Science Campus. You will assist RNs, LPNs, and MHTs with delegated tasks and help keep the unit clean and organized.

Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program with fundamentals check-offs or a clinical rotation completed, hold current BLS, and demonstrate clear writing, fluent speech, and the ability to follow directions. You may rotate shifts and units and must meet physical requirements.

Qualifications

• Student currently enrolled in Associate, Baccalaureate, or Masters Degree nursing program.
• Has completed a nursing fundamentals course including check offs or a clinical rotation.
• Current BLS certification.
• Ability to write legibly, speak articulately, and follow directions accurately.
• Finger and hand dexterity to handle delicate instruments and other equipment.
• Ability to plan and organize work and to work under close supervision.
• Willingness to accept responsibility for patients in their care when performing delegated functions.
• Ability to tolerate strenuous physical activity and to assist patients.
• May be required to rotate shifts and units.
• Physical requirements: visual acuity, hearing, communication, dexterity, lifting 50 pounds, standing/walking, bending, CPR.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse and Mental Health Technician in providing delegated tasks on the nursing unit.
• Assists in maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
