Job summary

Down East Community Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Technologist (MLT/MT) to perform diagnostic tests under the Laboratory Manager and report results to physicians for patient care. The role requires AMT or ASCP certification and active engagement in QA, safety, and equipment maintenance.

Night shift runs 8pm to 6:30am with weekend rotation. Eligible for a $2,500 sign-on bonus after 90 days and another $2,500 after one year of employment. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Medical Technology or related field.
• Certification/registration as Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician is required or eligible.
• Knowledge of medical technology principles, methods, materials, equipment and techniques.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory tests in hematology, immunohematology, immunology, bacteriology, microscopy, chemistry and other areas as per protocols.
• Performs phlebotomies and manages specimens according to patient needs.
• Calibrates and maintains instruments; conducts quality control and preventive maintenance.
• Reports results accurately and promptly; assists with policy/manual development and staff orientation.
