Job summary

Mercy is seeking a dedicated Lab Support Technician I (Phlebotomy) to join our laboratory team. This full-time night shift role supports specimen collection, processing, reporting and data management while delivering patient-centered service.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or equivalent, completes probation, and demonstrates competency through training. Preferred: phlebotomy experience and science coursework, with ongoing CEU requirements.

Qualifications

• Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; Successful completion of probationary period; No active disciplinary actions or performance improvement plans; Ability to demonstrate competency through departmental training.

Responsibilities

• Laboratory Support & Specimen Collection: Perform safe, accurate, and professional collection of laboratory specimens; Ensure proper identification, labeling, handling, transport and referral for testing; Assist with specimen processing and report management within laboratory areas.
• Operational Excellence: Demonstrate effective computer skills for electronic communication and data management; Organize, prioritize and complete work within turnaround times; Attend department and Mercy system meetings.
• Customer Service: Deliver exceptional service consistent with Mercy Signature Service standards; Communicate professionally with patients, providers, coworkers, vendors, and the public.
• Quality & Compliance: Follow CMS guidelines and laboratory policies; Identify and participate in process improvement opportunities; Adhere to safety regulations.
• Workplace Excellence: Support staffing needs and goals; Foster teamwork; Participate in continuing education and development.
