Job summary

OhioHealth’s Core Lab is seeking a Night Shift Phlebotomist/Specimen Processor to perform phlebotomy and a range of technical and clerical tasks in the Laboratory, following guidelines and focusing on safety, quality, and patient care.

The role involves patient and clinician interaction, specimen handling, LIS usage, and adherence to regulatory standards, with on‑the‑job training and opportunities for growth within the lab team.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Driver's License required.
6 months - 1 year experience in phlebotomy and/or specimen processing.
Customer service and communication skills.
Familiarity with medical terminology and laboratory processes.

Responsibilities

70% Phlebotomy and/or specimen processing.
Adherence to Safety and Infection Control practices.
Customer service to clinicians and clients.
Communicate with physician office staff and clinical staff.
Communicate with patients and families; utilize service recovery when needed.
15% Associated computer related tasks (LIS, e-Source).
5% Training new employees and students.
5% Regulatory compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, CAP, OSHA, JCAHO, CMS, OSH and Lab Policies.
5% Maintaining competencies and mandatory education (ACE).
As an HRO, maintain focus on safety, quality and efficiency.
