Job summary

SpartanNash Military in Severn, MD is hiring for Inventory Control support to ensure accurate stock levels in the distribution center. The role involves inventory counting, data maintenance, and coordinating with multiple departments to keep inventory in check.

You will handle reporting, slotting optimization, and disposition of variances while upholding safety and continuous improvement. The position requires a high school diploma and ability to work nights, weekends, and overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or combination of education/experience.
• Prior warehouse/distribution experience preferred.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Must have good math, problem-solving and data entry skills and attention to detail, and effective organization, prioritization and multi-tasking skills.
• Must be able to count inventory and research issues. Basic computer skills including Word and Excel, and ability to learn other system applications.
• Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently within a fast-paced warehouse operation. Must be able to work within a warehouse environment.
• Must follow safe working practices in accordance with Company safety policies and practices.
• Must be able to work weekends, holidays, day or night hours, and overtime as necessary and as assigned, and must be able to work in the condition specified for an 8-10 hour shift.

Responsibilities

• Support the inventory process in the Distribution Center through counting, auditing outgoing orders, data maintenance, and adjusting inventory to maintain accuracy.
• Coordinate with Buying, Accounting, Shipping, Receiving, Transportation, System Administration, outside carriers and vendors to ensure correct inventory.
• Prepare inventory related reports and verify balances in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to identify shortages and discrepancies.
• Assist in monitoring the slotting of product and the layout of the warehouse to optimize efficiency.
• Disposal of short-dated inventory, aged inventory, damaged and salvage product.
• Identify, research, correct and communicate receiving inventory errors to Accounting and/or Inventory Supervisor.
• Communicate inventory/receiving issues and other pertinent information to supervisors in a timely manner.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
