Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking a Night Shift Hospital Bed Board Coordinator to regulate bed availability across the hospital and support patient flow from ED to inpatient or observation units.

The role requires a high school diploma, 1+ year in acute care or related setting or strong customer service, and current BLS certification or ability to obtain within 90 days. You will work nights with rotating weekends, using the bed board system and coordinating with ED staff and care managers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year in acute care, healthcare, or strong customer service experience.
• Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Regulate bed availability hospital-wide and monitor admissions, transfers, and discharges in real time.
• Monitor admit status from the ED to inpatient/Observation settings; communicate with ED staff and nurses.
• Review admit orders for accuracy and oversee bed status for admits, transfers, discharges.
• Perform walking rounds with inpatient staff to verify bed status.
• Verify insurance details (HMO, PPO, Medicare) for admissions.
• Maintain professional communication with physicians and department staff.
• Operate the hospital electronic bed board efficiently.
• Complete daily census reconciliation.
• Notify relevant teams of bed delays and anticipated barriers.
• Participate in performance improvement and other duties as assigned.
