Job summary

Acupath Laboratories Inc. in Plainview, NY is seeking Histotechnicians/Grossing technicians for a 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM shift to support diagnostic tissue processing. The role involves receiving specimens, labeling, preparing tissues, performing quality checks, and ensuring confidentiality.

Required is a Bachelor's in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology with NYSED licensure. 2–5 years' experience is preferred; ASCP certification is a plus along with strong safety and documentation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from an accredited institution or equivalent required.
• Licensed by NYSED as CLT/Histotechnician or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2–5 years’ work experience preferred.
• ASCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receives specimens in the grossing laboratory.
• Enters patient information into the LIS, verifying identification.
• Labels cassettes with accession numbers for tracking.
• Performs quality control and routine maintenance of equipment.
• Maintains a clean, organized work area and proper safety practices.
• Adheres to CAP, CLIA, state regulations and HIPAA.
