Job summary

UC Health is seeking a part-time Health Unit Coordinator for the night shift at University Of Cincinnati Medical Center in the Labor and Deliver Department. The position provides clerical support, transcription of orders, and chart management to assist the clinical team in delivering patient care.

The HUC will communicate with patients, families, staff and physicians, ensure HIPAA-compliant handling of information, and help maintain a clean, organized unit.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years of customer service experience preferred.
• HUC education from college or vocational school preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transcribes physician orders and ensures timely entry into the system.
• Maintains patient charts from admission to discharge and files related documents.
• Serves as the primary communication link among patients, staff, visitors, physicians, and departments.
• Performs admission, transfer, and discharge chart activities and custodial chart maintenance.
• Answers phones, greets patients, and provides HIPAA-compliant information handling and privacy.
