In this role, you will assist the department manager in hitting sales and profit goals while upholding our Customer 1st strategy and core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety. This position emphasizes strong customer service, teamwork and adherence to store standards.

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create a welcoming environment; answer questions about products in the department and store.
• Know department products to answer questions and suggest items.
• Recommend items to customers and inform them of grocery specials.
• Check product quality and dates; take appropriate action.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise and provide customer orders.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Stay current with ads (present, future, seasonal, and special).
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain logs.
• Follow safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions; notify management.
• Inspect equipment and report needed repairs.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report safety risks and illegal activity including theft or fraud.
• Able to perform essential functions with or without accommodation.
