Job summary

You will help customers with product knowledge, stock and rotate merchandise, and ensure food safety and quality across the department.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products.
• Gain knowledge of products and respond to questions, making recommendations.
• Recommend grocery items and inform customers of specials.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell-by dates.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise; provide fresh products ordered by customers.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude and stay current with ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs kept.
• Reinforce safety programs and notify management of unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of repair needs.
• Notify management of accidents; report safety risks and illegal activity.
