Job summary

FedEx Freight is hiring for a dock/warehouse position in New York. The role involves transporting freight between dock areas and trailers, using forklift and pallet jack, and ensuring accurate freight documentation.

Physical tasks include lifting and moving heavy loads, securing freight, and assisting customers with freight paperwork. This is a hands-on, team-oriented role with varying hours and safety-driven procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift experience preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight and dock equipment as needed throughout shift.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Operate motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Verify freight documentation matches description (type, weight, hazmat).
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and related documentation.
