Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a warehouse/dock associate for night shift in Illinois. The role involves transporting freight between docks and trailers, operating forklifts and pallet jacks, and ensuring accurate freight documentation for loading and unloading.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift operations experience preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights, to lift dock plates around 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring up to ~75 pounds lift, several times daily.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move freight.
• Verify documentation matches freight description using system.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
