Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across dock areas, loading to trailers during a night shift. The starting rate of pay is $21.16 per hour, with a shift from 9:00 PM to 3:00 AM.

The role includes operating forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck to move freight and ensure proper documentation and safety practices. Ideal candidates will have a High School diploma or equivalent, be 18+, and have warehousing or forklift experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience in warehousing, freight handling or forklift operations preferred.
• Experience with hostler/yard mule duties preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight and dock plates weighing up to 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring ~75 pounds of lift force.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight during shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform freight handling with forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Verify freight documents match description.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
