Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking associates to transport freight across dock areas and move it using forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks. You will verify freight documentation, secure loads, and assist customers with freight needs in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, being at least 18, and prior warehousing or forklift experience is preferred. Candidates must be able to lift heavy freight and work as part of a team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling or forklift experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight up to 100 pounds and open trailer doors with lift force up to ~75 pounds.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, and push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Work independently and/or as part of a team.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Perform freight handling using forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description (type, weight, hazmat) in system.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies; perform other duties as required.
