Job summary

Forward Air Corp. is seeking a Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, stage, scan, and move freight in a high-volume multimodal terminal. You will operate sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE, ensuring accurate documentation and efficient workflow on-site in Harrisburg.

Requires forklift certification and 3+ years dock experience. Must be able to work nights and weekends, with physical endurance for long shifts in a non-climate-controlled environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure or ability to obtain before operating equipment.
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic to verify freight counts, quantities, and weights.
• Willingness to learn and use handheld scanners and freight-tracking devices.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and designated warehouse areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading and unloading following safety procedures.
• Label and scan freight to ensure documentation accuracy.
• Identify damaged freight and report safety or equipment concerns.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and follow PPE standards.
• Train and mentor other Material Handlers as needed.
• Work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
